Norway Grants–Funded Green Technology Project | Vli Timber

Participation in the Norwegian Financial Mechanism Programme “Business Development, Innovation and SMEs”

Project Overview

We are currently participating in a project under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism Programme “Business Development, Innovation and SMEs”. We believe that this project aligns with our needs and long-term vision. As we continuously consider development opportunities, we have been planning the construction of new wood-drying kilns. Our objective is to ensure that these kilns are more efficient, reduce the amount of energy used in the wood-drying process, and minimise negative environmental impact. We believe that the project funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism will enable us to implement these plans.

Project Objective

With the aim of reducing the negative environmental impact of the company’s operations and conserving natural resources, UAB “VLI Timber” initiated this project, under which innovative high-temperature convection wood-drying kilns will be acquired and installed in the production process.

Project Impact

During the project, environmentally friendly technologies will be implemented, enabling the company to reduce the use of natural resources and the volume of pollutants emitted into the environment, thereby decreasing the overall environmental impact of its operations.

The project results will also contribute to increased competitiveness of the company by enabling faster order fulfilment, higher product quality, and greater production efficiency.

Funding and Project Details

Implementation Objectives

By initiating the project and seeking funding under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, we have set the following implementation objectives:

  1. To acquire and install nine high-temperature convection wood-drying kilns in the production process. The transformation of the firewood drying technological process will significantly reduce electricity and biofuel consumption used in production, as well as emissions of air pollutants (carbon monoxide).

  2. To ensure the successful installation of the equipment planned under the project at UAB “VLI Timber”, achieving the defined objectives while reducing the use of natural resources and environmental pollution.

  3. To ensure that procurement of equipment and services under the project is carried out in compliance with the requirements of the 2014–2021 European Economic Area and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms project procurement regulations, including the supervision procedures applicable to both contracting and non-contracting authorities, as well as Bilateral Cooperation Fund projects.
