Who We Are

Established in 2009, Vli Timber is a Lithuanian manufacturer and exporter of kiln-dried firewood for the European firewood market. We specialise in industrial-scale processing, modern kiln drying technology and responsible use of low-grade timber to deliver consistent quality for retail and wholesale partners across Europe.

Our team combines long-term industry experience with automated production lines and continuous digital monitoring, ensuring reliable year-round capacity and uniform product quality.

What We Do

We manufacture kiln-dried hardwood firewood and supply it in crates, net bags and branded Vli Timber plastic bags. Every stage – from wood sourcing and moisture control to cutting, sorting, stacking and final inspection – is monitored by qualified specialists to ensure predictable results at scale.

Our hardwood species include oak, ash, birch and alder, selected for balanced heating performance, stability and compatibility with different stove types.

Wood Sourcing and FSC® Certification

Vli Timber’s firewood is produced from logs sourced from responsibly managed forests under FSC®-certified Chain of Custody (FSC-C109548). This ensures transparent origin, traceability and compliance with international sustainability standards across our supply chain.

Before entering production, logs are visually inspected, graded and sorted; non-standard or unsuitable pieces are set aside, while the best material proceeds to processing.

Precise Cutting, Sorting and Stacking

We cut firewood to standard lengths – 25 cm, 30 cm or other specifications – depending on client requirements. Each batch goes through multiple sorting stages to remove rotten or non-standard pieces, ensuring only uniform logs are packed for delivery.

Hand-stacking helps maximize crate density, improving transport efficiency and supporting stable B2B supply programs.

Advanced Kiln Drying Technology

Our industrial timber drying kilns reach temperatures up to 90°C and deliver firewood with moisture content typically below 18%. This heat-treatment supports consistent burning performance and helps ensure logs are mould – and pest- free.

Automated sensors monitor temperature, airflow and cycle conditions to achieve repeatable drying results in all seasons.

Firewood Industry 4.0

We apply Firewood Industry 4.0 principles to industrial firewood production through automation and data-driven process control. Real-time monitoring, continuous optimisation and efficient kiln cycles help us maintain stable quality and throughput, even during winter peaks.

This modern approach strengthens reliability for partners who require consistent specifications, volumes and delivery schedules.

Why We Use Low-Grade Timber

Low-grade timber refers to wood that does not meet visual or structural criteria for construction or furniture but remains fully suitable for energy use. It may include logs with irregular shapes, smaller diameters or cosmetic imperfections that do not affect heating performance.

When processed with proper kiln drying and quality control, low-grade timber becomes a high-value energy product. By using this resource responsibly, we support circular economy practices, reduce waste and improve overall timber utilization.

Kiln-dried low-grade hardwood provides strong and predictable heating performance while aligning with responsible sourcing and industrial production standards.

Vli Timber in Numbers

Vli Timber is the largest producer of kiln-dried firewood in Europe by management estimate, and has been operating since 2009. Our products are sold across major European retail chains, both directly and through distributors, including LIDL, ALDI, Gamma, Hagebau, TOOM/REWE and B&Q.

Our certifications include FSC® Chain of Custody (licence code FSC-C109548) for responsible sourcing and material traceability, Woodsure Ready to Burn (scheme no. WS223) for certified kiln-dried firewood on the UK market, and an IPPC certificate for compliant wooden packaging in international trade.

New Venice Firewood Factory

Vli Timber is developing the Venice firewood factory in Venecija village, Jonava District, Lithuania. This fully automated kiln-dried firewood production facility is a central part of our long-term capacity and export growth strategy.

The factory is being built on an approximately 20-hectare site, with around 7,000 m² of production and operational buildings. It will integrate automated sorting, cutting, splitting, drying, handling and packaging within a single production system. Sensor-based monitoring and data-driven process control will support consistent moisture levels, greater energy efficiency and reliable year-round quality.

In the first half of 2026 we processed 63,535 m³ of low-grade timber, 2.5% more than during the same period in 2025. Once the new facility is fully operational, expected annual capacity across both factories is more than 300,000 m³.

Flexible Delivery and Payment Terms

Delivery can be made to a central warehouse or to separate unloading points. We provide flexible delivery options for firewood, accommodating multiple unloading points and direct shipments to central warehouses.

For established partners a payment deferral of up to 120 days is possible.
